Default Gw2 and Aion

Aion is being made by Ncsoft and Runs on a realy nice engine, not to promote it, and fits ALOT of stuff in on it so I was wondering.

Will Anet use the same tech for Gw2?

Since many Developers will share information among others with the same Publisher, it is a possibility.

Thats brutal, imagine that in Gw and X2 graphics. *WoW**Run**For**It*
Seriously though, imagine the potential and disadvantage here.

1. People can over aggro a freaking map
2. More interaction, and effects.

Pay- $15/month

I have a feeling that Aion is aimed specifically at Asian market (READ: Korea and South-East Asia).

What does this mean? Think Lineage 2. No matter how exciting & fun & new & beautiful it seems to be, it will also come with massive grindfest like most other games of its kind. And I'm not talking about Western kind of quest-driven grinds in WoW and co. here.

But as I said, that's just my feeling.

Look is subjective.

If you want to know what kind of game you can get with free-2-play model, look at GW1.

Hint: "We can't afford to do this", "We don't have the capacity, time, or technology to do that", "We can't offer that with our business model"

From, all these hints im getting from various updates.
I think there lining it all down to the basics agian, thats good but bad. Less good combos to use.

The more combinations in GW2 vs.complexity of GW2 enviroment will be a pain to figure out.

*Imagines jumping into a 20 vs 12 battle, jumps over a ledge and aggros another 50 into it.*

Looks promising, but so does a lot of things in the NCSoft catalogue. I just haven't had a whole lot of faith in their products as of late, and that really bums me out.

At least it looks a little different than most...Okay it actually looks too much like Lineage for me. We'll wait and see.

Frankly, the graphics in GW1, especially GW:EN, look a lot better than what I saw in that video trailer. Am I missing something?

Wth are you talking about?!? GW1 looks way better than WoW and it is still free.

So I don't see what is the problem between GW2 and Aione or WoW2 for that matter.

PS: This is a response to the OP.

I don't think anyone was saying WoW graphics > GW1 graphics. But since you brought it up, I will agree that in a technical sense Guild Wars is superior. WoW has very colorful and fully explorable living areas, and that's hard to beat.

In terms of looking good and keeping quality: I know thousands of single-player off-line games that have offered both. It depends on the developer.

I have not seen anything for Aion that would lead me to believe they'd have no choice but to charge a monthly fee for that game.
Guild Wars 2 will have no monthly fee regardless of what it looks like.

The only games where I could see a monthly fee needed were games like WoW and EQ2, where they need to make so much they need to keep the income coming constantly to pay for stuff they are still working on. An interview with Scott Hartsman mentioned that's most of what monthly fees are for....to pay for future content production, regardless of whether the customer still has to buy it once it's finished production.

I think of monthly fees as loans. The developer is taking a loan from you to pay for future additions. The devs will always have the money for future content production regardless of whether their box sales decline before it's production is finished. Once production is finished you then can buy it, but it's a lot of content for it's price, since technically you have already paid for it's production costs with your monthly fees.

If you've paid attention to Anet's explanations in interviews you know that from the start they have chosen a different business model than other MMO type games and have proved it works.
They also said it's a business model that is there to co-exist with the others.

Now, looking at the graphics GW has now compared to other games (like WoW) who do charge monthly I think the answer will have to be: yes, they can do it.
Just because some companies milk their customers to the bone and get away with it while offering lower end graphics, doesn't mean you need that kind of business model to make a better looking game. My point is, they've done it before, I'm sure they can do it again.

Now if flying is an option that is desirable in GW2 is another matter. In any case they have said that jumping (as in jumping on and over terrain) and swimming will be added. So there are some extra's already compared to the current game.

Aion looks really awesome but I won't play it becuase I just really don't think it would suit me. I like guild and I'll probably stay playing GW and then GW2 if I can get a new computer (I'm kinda running and old system) or maybe I could just upgrade (now I'm off topic sorry ).
